Craig Grimmer is a specialist in high-resolution, liquids NMR spectroscopy working at the School of Chemistry & Physics of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
In addition to being employed at UKZN as “only a technician”, Craig has a small-scale research programme of his own, focussed primarily on small molecule NMR spectroscopy, crystallography, and computational chemistry. Since spending some time with the late Jim Snyder of the then Liotta-Snyder research group at the Emory Institute of Drug Discovery (now the Emory Institute for Drug Development) in Atlanta, USA, some of Craig’s research activity has been directed into the conformational analysis of drug molecules through NAMFIS. Craig’s visit to the EIDD was kindly sponsored by the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) and Emory College of Emory University.
